New Study Outlines Path to Safeguard Quality Patient Care and Healthcare Jobs in Lynn

1199SEIU members from Central Brooklyn hospitals came together on November 21st, along with members of sister unions and local community allies, to hear a summary of the latest proposal to revamp of Brooklyn’s healthcare system.

The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds launched a Community Health Worker Apprenticeship program, which is a partnership between 1199SEIU UHWE, NYC Department of Small Business Services through the New York Alliance for Careers in Healthcare, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, LaGuardia Community College and the Training Fund. The new program kicked off on the first day of National Apprenticeship Week.

1199 members say that a fair contract will go a long way in helping to recruit and retain the staff needed to take care of the residents and the upkeep of the facility.
